Vietnam (1)

DAY 1:

our flight got delayed for 1hr+ (almost 2hrs) because the plane's wheel was faulty so they have to get it replaced. so while the technicians were fixing the wheel, the passengers were on board laughing away because it's so ridiculous.

checked into our hotel (which is a 2* local hotel - wasn't that bad), unpacked and headed off to have desserts and to do mani. it cost only $4.70 (classic w/design)! in sgp it's not even enough to paint one finger. perks of being a girl! ^_^

after which, nancy and her bf fetched us on their bike to have authentic vietnamese food for dinner. and because i didn't want to make this trip a wasted one by not trying their local food and being picky 'bout everything, i tried all the dishes even though most were considered "weird" to me. like chicken bones. here's my reasoning: afterall #yolo so everything also must try eating/doing. tio bo?

and i found out that (pardon me if i'm wrong):
  • roads in hanoi is rather narrow, which explains why there's rarely cars on the road but motorbikes are everywhere
  • some (can i say most?) people there do not have a bike license and they start riding it when they enter high school, which is about 16 year old
  • maximum speed is only 40km/hr and there's little traffic lights around
  • cheapest bike cost only $2000
