Vietnam (2)

DAY 2:

had pho (pronounced as "fur") to kick start the day! did some shopping after that and it sucked. all i got was just a pair of mint green shorts for $14. now i totally understand why nancy seldom shop in vietnam. or maybe there's not much to buy since it's now the fall season.

for dinner, we had authentic home-cooked vietnamese dishes over at nancy mom's workplace. all the dishes cooked were fish because nancy told her mom that there's a lot of things i don't eat. makes me feel like an irritant for being so picky with food but oh well. had desserts (yogurt with milk + glutinous rice and caramel pudding) after that! mad yummy i swear. totally in love with the desserts there!

DAY 3:

got our room changed! couldn't help but to feel sleepy all the time ever since i landed in vietnam. while waiting for nancy to fetch us mel and i went to have a walk down the streets/market, only to realize that we couldn't do without nancy because obviously a communication barrier existed. buying the twirl potato was so difficult, the guy couldn't understand us and we couldn't understand him either. what an experience...

managed to get myself an iphone cover at the night mkt for less than $2.50! wanted to get more but there was a budget constraint as i didn't have enough bahts with me since the initial plan to go to the night mkt is to just get some snacks.

even though the streets were sardine-packed with people celebrating mid-autumn, we didn't get lost thanks to the creation of google map. mel even came up with a brilliant idea to just keep turning left whenever we come across a split junction so that when we want to head back, we will just have to keep turning right. genius?

did you know...?
  • ho chi minh (hcm) is named after a president
  • hcm and hanoi used to be like north and south korea, in a way they were "separated/divided"
  • motor plates has "district number" on them followed by the plate number (29-31 belongs to hanoi)
